Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton & Seth Rollins: Raw, February 23, 2015
One night after their hellacious battle at WWE Fastlane, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan join forces against the returning Randy Orton and Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins.
Earlier this year I wrote an article opining that Fastlane would be hard to top as the worst event of 2015, and at the end I implored WWE not to take that as a challenge. While it took them until almost the end of the year to do so, it appears that WWE accepted the challenge and produced a show even more disappointing than the one they presented back in February.
Survivor Series, while traditionally considered one of “the big four” pay-per-views on WWE’s calendar, was a colossal letdown this year. The 2014 edition gave us a thrilling main event with some high stakes (that were reversed a few weeks later), while 2015 crowned two new champions – neither of whom the fans wanted to see win the title – in less than five minutes.
The event was hindered by the looming threat of an alleged terrorist attack but that didn’t stop a capacity crowd from showing up to Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA so they could pay their hard-earned money to send the message that they’re not afraid. In the end, it wasn’t ISIS that the fans had to fear, but rather WWE’s own inept booking. A crowd that began the night hot and ready for action was eventually drained of all enthusiasm by the time the show ended.
Let’s take a look at this year’s Survivor Series and discuss just how WWE went about bringing us the most insipid show of the year (they’ve still got one month to top it).
